The beautiful game embraces Palestine: footballers take a stand

Thank you to Sevilla striker Fredi Kanoute (pictured in photograph after the ‘more’ break) and to Kettering Town football club for taking a stand, the latter supporting the Palestinian charity emblazoned on their shirts.

Kanoute follows Egypt’s Mohamed Aboutrika who last year also chose to show heart:

Meanwhile, in Ankara, Turkey a couple of weeks ago, vocal crowd protesters prevented a game from being played by Israeli basketball team Bnei Hasharon (thanks Dave).

Come on Kettering! Come on you Poppies!

Evidently the 4th Round Cup Tie against Fulham tomorrow is all-ticket.

Nevertheless we will all be backing the boys especially now they’re on side with the Palestinian cause.

It will warm the cockles on a cold January afternoon to see the Poppies back the legitimate and noble cause of our Palestinian brothers and sisters….

And knock Premiership side Fulham out of the cup.

Sadly there are no such stirrings for Palestinian justice at my team,Chelsea. They are owned by the Khazar oil millionaire and oppo to Rothschild agent Oleg Deripaska,Roman Abramovich.

After the way the boys in blue surrendered to Man Utd at Old Trafford a fortnight ago I have fallen out of love with my boyhood idols and if they beat Ipswich tomorrow and Poppies beat Fulham and the two are drawn to meet in the 5th Round-I’m backing Poppies all the way!

Stuff Abramovitch! Up the Palestinians! Up the Poppies!

Now this is the BBC sport web page isn’t it….?

Timely Reminders

"Those who crusade, not for God in themselves, but against the devil in others, never succeed in making the world better, but leave it either as it was, or sometimes perceptibly worse than what it was, before the crusade began. By thinking primarily of evil we tend, however excellent our intentions, to create occasions for evil to manifest itself."
-- Aldous Huxley

"The only war that matters is the war against the imagination. All others are subsumed by it."
-- Diane DiPrima, "Rant", from Pieces of a Song.

"It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack
of what is found there"
-- William Carlos Williams, "Asphodel, That Greeny Flower"
